Library Quilting Club
Public library in Charlestown, Indiana is the best. Not only it has a great collection of books and magazines, it also offers numerous children and adult programs, and provides conference room for different community groups.
Every program is an experience! During children's story hour kids dance, sing, recite poems, do simple craft, and, of course, listen to several books read to them. They enjoy themselves a lot and always asking to come back.
In Summer 2004 Anne Witten developed a plan for quilt club for 3-5th graders. And in Fall 2004 it was offered to 10 lucky girls and boys.
We put together resourses of several local quilters. In class we had embroidery machine and 4 home sewing machines for piecing. Local machine quilter (me) drew paterns and quilted 11 quilts on a PC Quilter. Fabrics were purchased from the library funds.
Our quilting club was a great success. One boy and nine girls completed their quilts. Several mothers helped, several girls prefered to send their mothers away and work on their own.
I hope you will enjoy a story about our program.
