Using Paint Shop Pro to Make Patterns for PC Quilter.
Paint Shop Pro has vector and raster tools in the same package. Here is my standard tracing workflow:
- I open jpg (or gif) image.
- I trace over the edge with point-to-point line (maybe it is called differently in other packages).
- I make initial layer with jpg image invisible, leaving only my trace.
- I edit traced shape with vector tools.
- I create new raster layer on top and add all red nodes for make_pattern and clean up intersections of lines in pixel-by-pixel mode.
- I save the result in .bmp.
- I use make_pattern to make it.
Works great for me. Line is thin and nice (came from vectors), I have full control of directions and intersections.
Other great festures of Paint Shop Pro:
- "Browse" feature - images inside any directory are quickly displayed as thumbnails.
- Picture tubes - you have to see them.
- Pre-set shapes (vector shapes).
